Notebook, 1835. It contains notes on navigation, gunnery, naval tactics, and general seamanship, perhaps representing lecture notes from naval college courses. The volume was reused as a scrapbook ca. 1848; many pages are obscured by clippings containing poems, many on religious subjects, sermons, stories, obituaries, etc., as well as two portrait lithographs.
